Muslims may get a piece of 27% OBC quota pie

The government is considering giving reservation to backward Muslims within the 27 per cent quota fixed for Other Backward Classes and a decision in this regard will be taken soon, law minister Salman Khurshid said on Thursday.

"Of the 27% OBC quota in jobs, the government is examining to fix a quota for backward Muslims," Salman Khurshid told reporters outside Parliament.

This decision is comping up when reservation has become a critical issue.
What the question is that is India following right reservation policy?
The country is advancing at quite fast pace and such decisions may act as hindrance in growth of our country.
The times changed but the govt. has never responsibly decided to re-fraim plicy of reservation. The policy requires remarkable change. In India these days reserved population is about 51% while general is 49%, this itself tells need to reconsider the policy of reservation. It is not at all bad that reservation benefits are provided to some castes/classes as these suffured lot of harrasment in past and were in quite poor condition. But these days the reservation is not having any beneficial effect. Only some of the people are able draw benefits out of such policies. The people who have already become rich are further getting benefited by the reservation policy while these are not in need of these policies while poorer section in reserved group is still deprived, they still are not getting benefited by the reservation. So what necessary is to give entirely free education and other aids to people who are needful. The reservations should not be on basis of caste but on basis of needs, poorer section needs reservation. But reservation should not be in the sense that some special post are created for these categories but by providing free education, health services and monetory help.
Respectful Ambedkar Sahb had never though such negative effects of reservation while preparing constitution.
The reservation policies have created divide in the country, the mentality of the people have changed but these policies themselves act as divide. They are separating India into 2 groups reserved and unreserved.
The govt should definitely look over these policies and provide help to only needful and full transparency is needed to be maintained in this process. This only will lead to development of our country further craeting unity.
I hope govt of india will some day reconsider its reservation policy and remove its bottle-neck policies.
